Storage Mistakes That Ruin Bacteriostatic Water
Leaving the vial in a hot car. Summer car temperatures can exceed 60°C (140°F). Even a few hours at these temperatures can degrade the preservative and potentially compromise the vial seal.
Storing next to a window. UV exposure degrades benzyl alcohol. Clear glass vials offer no UV protection. If your storage area receives direct sunlight, move the vials or wrap them in aluminum foil.
Freezing and thawing repeatedly. Each freeze-thaw cycle stresses the glass and stopper seal. Microscopic failures accumulate. Never freeze bacteriostatic water — not for storage, not for shipping, not for any reason.
